Looking for a TiviMate Alternative?

TiviMate is a good app and a lot of people are happy with it. If you're shopping around anyway, these are the things that actually differ between players — worth knowing before you pay for any of them.

We make one of these apps, so read this with that in mind. What follows is the honest list of what separates IPTV players on Fire TV, and where TvPro Player lands on each — including the places it won't suit you.

The five things that actually differ

1. Which sources it will load

Most players handle M3U and Xtream Codes. Fewer handle Stalker or MAC portals. Very few will also connect to a self-hosted Jellyfin, Emby, or Plex server, or load Stremio-compatible addons.

If your live TV and your own media library live in separate apps today, source coverage is the thing that would change that. If you only have one M3U playlist and always will, it's irrelevant — don't pay for breadth you won't use.

2. How multi-device works

Almost everyone with a Fire TV Stick eventually has two or three. What matters is whether your favorites, custom groups, and resume points follow you between them, or whether every TV is configured from scratch and tracks its own progress.

Ask specifically how many devices a licence covers, and whether adding a fourth or fifth costs extra.

3. Subscription or one-time

Some players are subscription-only, some sell a lifetime unlock, some do both. Over three or four years the difference is real money. Check whether a lifetime option exists before you start paying monthly.

4. What happens on your phone

Plenty of TV players are TV-only. If you want the same app on a phone or tablet, check that a mobile version exists — and check whether your TV licence covers it, because often it doesn't.

5. What the app does with your data

A player should pass your streams through to the screen and nothing more. Worth reading the privacy policy for whether streams are proxied through the developer's servers and whether viewing is logged.

What you'd be getting that most players don't have

Game day without the hunt

This is the one people don't go back from. Most players give you a folder with hundreds of sports channels and leave you to guess which one carries tonight's game. TvPro has a dedicated Sports Hub: it shows what's live and what's coming up across 160+ leagues, and when you pick a game, it matches it to the channels in your own playlist and lists them for you. One click from "who's playing tonight" to watching — no scrolling, no guessing, no keeping a note of which channel had it last week.

Profiles for the household

Everyone in the house gets their own profile — their own favorites, custom groups, and Continue Watching. Your resume row stays yours, the kids' cartoons stay theirs, and nobody scrolls through anyone else's taste. Most IPTV plans already include more than one connection; profiles are how a family actually uses them in one app.

Your spot follows you

Start a film in the living room, finish it in the bedroom — Continue Watching syncs across every TV on your account, and each one picks up exactly where you stopped. Away from home? Sign in on any TV and your rows, favorites, and resume points are already there. Add two-way Trakt sync and your watchlist and history follow you everywhere, every time.

More than one game on screen

Multi-View puts multiple live channels on screen at once — two matches on the same Saturday, or the news in the corner while the game plays. You can also record live TV straight to your device.

Your own library, same app

Connect a Jellyfin, Emby, or Plex server and your personal library sits alongside live TV — one search, one favorites list, one Continue Watching row. Add Trakt and it syncs both ways, with automatic scrobbling and resume on every device you own.

Where it won't suit you

Mobile and TV are separate purchases. Buying the lifetime TV unlock doesn't give you the phone app, and vice versa. If you want both on one payment, that isn't how this is priced, and it's a fair reason to look elsewhere.

If you've built years of habit around another player's exact layout, an alternative will feel wrong for a week regardless of its feature list. That's a real cost and the seven-day trial exists so you can find out before paying.

And if you're hoping an app will supply channels — none of these do. Every player on this list, ours included, is empty until you point it at your own source.

How to try one without wasting a weekend

  1. Install on one TV, not all of them.
  2. Load the playlist you use daily — not a test one.
  3. Live with it for the full trial, including whatever you watch on a Saturday night.
  4. Only then decide, and only then roll it out to the other TVs.

Common questions

Can I run both players while I decide?

Yes. They're separate apps and don't interfere with each other. Most people trial a new one alongside what they already use.

Do I need to re-enter my playlist on every TV?

No. Sign in with the same email and your sources, favorites, groups and resume points sync across up to five TV devices.

Is there a free trial?

Seven days on every plan, with no card required to start. On Fire TV a QR code appears at the end of the trial if you decide to continue.

Does the lifetime option really mean lifetime?

One payment, no renewal. TV lifetime is $44.99 and covers up to five TV devices; mobile lifetime is $24.99 and is purchased separately through the App Store or Google Play.
